Commissioner Andrew Bulakowski was elected to the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners in November 2022, bringing with him a strong background in labor leadership, community planning, and decades of volunteer service.

A proud resident of Lower Township, Commissioner Bulakowski currently serves as a Senior Council Representative with the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. His career in organized labor has been marked by a deep commitment to advocating for workers, strengthening the trades, and promoting economic development throughout the region.

In addition to his role on the Board of County Commissioners, Commissioner Bulakowski serves on the Cape May County Planning Board and the County Development Review Board, where he plays an active role in shaping responsible growth and long-term planning for the county. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the Lower Township Planning Board and was Cape May County’s representative to the New Jersey Planning Board Officials’ Executive Board.

Commissioner Bulakowski’s lifelong dedication to community service has been recognized at the highest levels. In 2015, he was honored with the United States Presidential Volunteer Service Award for lifetime achievement and commitment to volunteerism—a reflection of decades spent improving the lives of others throughout Cape May County and beyond.

 

His volunteer contributions include hands-on construction efforts for some of the region’s most meaningful memorials and charitable projects, such as:

• The Vietnam Veterans Wall in Wildwood

• The Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial in Cape May

• The Air Advisors Memorial at McGuire Air Force Base

• The Disabled American Veterans Club

• Countless home repairs and remodels for charitable causes across Cape May County

 

Commissioner Bulakowski has also held leadership roles in numerous philanthropic initiatives, including:

• Committee Executive Board Member and Chairman of the Charity Golf Tournament for Burlington County Military Affairs

• Past Chairman of the High Tides Stryper Tournament, benefiting Brendan’s Fund and pediatric cancer patients

• Past Chairman of the Special Olympics Golf Tournament

• Long-time volunteer with the Children’s Fresh Air Home in Wildwood

 

His professional development includes coursework in labor law, construction psychology, and cost estimating through Rutgers University and Gloucester County College. He is also a licensed 100-ton Master Captain, further demonstrating his diverse skill set and hands-on experience.

 

Commissioner Bulakowski is deeply committed to serving the residents of Cape May County with integrity, diligence, and a results-oriented approach. His unique blend of public service, labor expertise, and community involvement allows him to effectively advocate for working families, veterans, and all those who call Cape May County home.

 

He continues to reside in Lower Township with his partner, Michelle McCusker, and their German Shepherd, Hanz. As Commissioner, he remains focused on building a stronger, more resilient Cape May County through thoughtful leadership, responsible planning, and unwavering service to the people.
